Sleepwalkers' Awakening becomes a Movie

Here is the video version of Sleepwalkers' Awakening on YouTube
The mp3 song link is here. For lyrics and other NiƱo tracks see here.

I want to explain something to you that is definitively portrayed in "Sleepwalkers' Awakening".

The song makes clear that we have TWO complementary primary incarnate responsibilities  -  one to discover the true nature of existence, without any preconceived assumptions, before we hurtle through life to our demise like sleepwalkers, and the other - even more important and essential - to give our whole life energy to the reflowering of life and its sustenance for the future generations.

There is not just one spiritual, or religious quest but two. Not just the one moralistic invocation to love the one God, or 'Jesus as Lord', or to submit to al-Llah under pain of death, but two - to both seek true illumination in the conscious mind and, even more importantly, to act as guardians of the ongoing life flow, for the unborn generations of life and the future flowering of life and consciousness.

One doesn't have to be religious to be spiritually illuminated. In fact religion is in fundamental conflict with true spiritual insight, because it interposes doctrine and priesthood in between ourselves and the insight of true enlightenment.

We now know that Christianity is in no way the path of Jesus. All that fell apart with the discovery of the Gospel of Thomas and a few of the other Nag Hammadi texts. In fact Christianity is a Hellenistic pagan syncretic fusion of fantastic beliefs in the born again aftermath of Paul of Tarsus amid acrimonious conflict between diverse cults during the Roman ascendancy. The Eucharist sacrament of soma and sangre is diabolical and the belief in worshiping Christ as only begotten Son of God is in frank contradiction to Yeshua's own teachings - wholly pagan and a completely corrupt cosmology.

Neither is Buddhism the religion of Buddha, although in this case the transmission is a little truer to the insights of the founder, and the quest is closer to enlightenment, although also contaminated with mind over nature fallacies.

All religions attempt to command the mental sphere as sacred, only to degenerate it into a moral dystopia of betrayal of God - in the case of Christianity, a war between God and Satan, in which both parties come off looking diabolical, as the Gnostics rightfully pointed out, claiming God was a mere demiurge, and history shows Christianity to be little better than Islam in terms of unmitigated violence and frank genocide. Islam demands complete submission to al-Llah and Buddhism likewise strives to command the mental sphere through elaborate doctrine, assuming control over the existential dilemma of the grasping ego, attempting to escape the cycle of birth and death, in the absence of the meaning and affirmation natural life itself provides.

Religious history demonstrates that the mental quest for God and eternal life takes compete precedence over the reflowering of nature as an immortal life process, right to the point of diabolizing nature as corrupt, even though some liberal Christians try to take a greenish view of the Church's guardianship implied by cherishing and replenishing the Earth, and some Buddhists, particularly Zen, commune with nature as satori, leaving the complementary Yin and Yang of the Tao and some forms of shamanism as the only paths respecting nature in its essence.

So the real problem is that no organized religion on Earth accepts the second primary responsibility, leaving the entire human and biodiverse planet in jeopardy. In many ways religion is more dangerous to the planet than business-as-usual, because it is irrational and plays deceitfully to everyone's worst fears, has manifest utopian ideals of planetary conquest and extols natural domination - dominion over nature - in the traditions of scorched-Earth habitats in which the entire Judeo-Christian-Islamic tradition was generated. Business-as-usual is selfish, and left unchecked can rape the planet and cause untold damage, but human knowledge and common sense can prevail, and in a rational  investment environment, act as a brake on harmful forms of development.

The only way we can redeem this situation is to set our sights on the pursuit of true knowledge, without any preconceived assumptions, as the sciences and humanities depend on for their veracity, and begin a tradition of personal dialogue about the 'second attention' - preserving and enriching the diversity of life - not just as a moral or ethical principle, but a manifestation of our conscious awareness and the need to give to the perpetuity of life in return for the mortality of our own personal experience, to make any meaningful sense of our existential condition.

This rebirthing of the sacredness of nature is absolutely essential. Without preserving the resilience of life and its diversity we face eclipse or annihilation. By comparison, the religious quest is a mere indulgence - naked lunch on the lawn of time - a self-fulfilling device for us to believe in our personal salvation.

Without religion we can learn to understand reality and discover our own inner nature.
Without safeguarding the diversity of life we embrace extinction.  It's that simple.

The Delphic Oracle Sings a Lullaby

Here is the mp3 link to my latest musical production Sleepwalkers Awakening about enlightenment, immortality, genocide and the restoration.  Hence it's truly a Delphic Oracle song ...

I've been sitting here thinking that the world is turning,
round and round, spinning threads, shifting sands, drifting in the wind
day after day goes by, nights come rolling round in slumber
dreaming of the inevitable time of awakening,
forgetting in our illusions, the times that are hurtling by.
Caught in the miasma, it's hard to take a breath of air
to find the inspiration to step off the merry go round.

But what is the hidden lesson that the wheel of birth and death can teach us?
What is the meaning and purpose of this all-too-giddy plight,
running helter-skelter from one carousel to another,
pretending that the bright lights are the key to immortal life,
loving like there's no tomorrow, and never an end in sight?
Can we catch our breath and be, even for a moment,
to see if we can see the future forming before our eyes?

We have been treading an endless road together,
travelers on a journey from end to end of time
Is there some kind of secret door we can exit the hall of mirrors
and find our way in the wilderness beyond the trackless wastes of time,
hearing the silences between the sounds, perceiving beyond appearances,
falling into eternity, existing in the very instant,
full complete and abundant, radiating the light of life.

We know we are creatures of flesh and blood, of biological origins
evolving sexual beings, of sensual experience,
living in a living world, with every kind of organism,
species coexisting in the tangled web of generation,
creatures of the grasslands, the forests, the wetlands and seas.
This is a lament, for so many facing extinction,
in a crime against humanity, that is a genocide of life.

Can we find the resolve, to safeguard the living planet
as guardians of the diversity, upon which we all depend?
Can we look beyond our self-absorbing visions
of domination, of conquest, of ascendency and war?
Can we embrace the spirit of love that brings together one and all?
This is a song of hope, in the face of catastrophe
a tricky little lullaby to calm the waters of strife.

We each come from the perennial web, unbroken since the dawn of time,
in which every generation has given life to the next.
Can we find the courage, to reflower reality,
to open up the floodgates, to the epoch of paradise?
In a time of so much promise, of cosmological discovery,
the very last thing our generations need is a planetary mass demise.

So let's just do the one very good thing for the sanctity of life.

Kitten's Cradle and the Entanglement

http://youtu.be/1c_wGAkktUI

This is about the physics behind the song "Kitten's Cradle" whose lyrics were in the last post, but before I explain this - please note a remastering.  I have just spent another couple of days improving the string levels to do justice to Charmian and Sophia's performances.
I have thus replaced the high quality mp3 version at: http://dhushara.com/nino/catparadox.mp3
and re-produced the video with the improved sound track at a new link:
http://youtu.be/1c_wGAkktUI

Now to the physics.
As noted, you can read about this in detail at: http://dhushara.com/stc/ct.htm

None of us know how or why we are conscious sentient beings, despite our subjective experience being the only access we have to the world around us, from birth to death. In the words of philosopher Jerry Fodor neither do any of us have the slightest notion of what it would be like to have a theory of how the brain makes the mind or what form such a theory could possibly take..

Enter quantum reality. In the quantum world two very weird things happen. Firstly if a cat is given a 50-50 chance of being killed, by a radioactive scintillation breaking a flask of cyanide, it is neither dead nor alive, but both in a shadowy double existence. In our ongoing consciousness we split the wave function and find the cat is alive or dead not both. This has made physicists think consciousness plays a pivotal role in bringing the real universe about from a host of multiverses - making history actually happen rather than just a shadowy superposition of all possibilities.

Now another weird thing about quantum reality. Particles caught together in the same wave function become entangled, so their behavior is connected across space-time instantaneously. In entanglement, and in fact in every wave function, the past and future handshake together, and both influence one another, so the future can also affect the past, not just the past and present determining the future. This is completely counterintuitive to our idea of causality and the linear arrow of time, but doesn't mean that the future is necessarily predetermined.  On the contrary, it could explain how consciousness came about, in the following way.

If the brain uses entangled states, in a certain way using weak measurements which don't collapse the waves, it may be able to have an intuitive sense of things that are about to happen. I have a lot of prescient experiences, particularly dreaming, but really it is obvious that the central role of being conscious is anticipating reality and any threats to our survival - jumping out of the way of the tiger. Brain waves look very much like quantum wave functions and phase coherence is the basis of both the brain distinguishing noise from attended signal and is the basis of quantum uncertainty.

This would explain why consciousness evolved, beginning with the first chaotically excitable cells which became sensitive to their environment anticipatively using the butterfly effect and the effect flowed on into our multicellular brains, making consciousness fundamental to cellular life, or at least the life of eucaryotes (protists, plants, animals, & fungi).

This the the very core of the existential dilemma being cracked here. It's a much deeper and harder problem than the theory of everything about the big bang although we can see the two are opposite ends of the same enigma.

So that's why I decided to write the song after producing a paper explaining this. I figure this is deeper than religion. It's deeper than ego, deeper than personal suffering and deeper than science itself because it goes right to the core of our spark of awareness. And it needs to be expressed in creative ways which evoke the mystery in a way which can unravel the dyed in the wool notions of traditional religions and mechanistic science, both of which reduce us to a doomed clockwork.

This piece, with the instrumentals, the refrain and the conscious beings who participated in it, are counting out in their awareness-in-flight something utterly mysterious that humanity needs to come to terms with to understand our own brief moment in the light on the dew on the lawn of time before we are whisked away again into eternity. We need to sing and dance about it because it is our first and and last tango entangled in one enigmatic reality.

Cat Paradox Music Track

Cat Paradox (mp3 download)
Song of the unrequited quantum physics of love

Have we all been running around in circles?

Thinking time is linear, caught in the kitten's cradle,

when all our pasts, and all of our futures

are woven together in the entanglement.

I thought I saw you dancing, spiraling all around me,

but now I have realized it was just some smoke on the wind.

We shared the same illusion, we were on the same wavelength,

but with uncertain momentum, and the energy to collide.

I will always remember. I will always be thinking of you

in the overlapping waters flowing through the tides of history,

among the tangled threads, in the webs of our communion,

beyond the furthest reaches of the trackless wilderness,

in the halls of the mirrors of our recollections

I will always be seeking the paths to reunite.

Although we've been thrown apart in the recoil of interaction

skittering on a tangential, parabolic arc.

I know that we will come sweeping back together

like comets with shining tails blazing across the sky.

I know that we shall always be entwined with one another

in the cosmic wave function enclosing the universe.

So this is the sacred braid of our enchantment.

Schrodinger's cat paradox of the tanged tale of life.

Even in our seasons of long-forsaken loneliness

love echoes on together from end to end of time.

reverberating in superposition, hidden in uncertainty,

entwined in our entanglement, enveloped in our correlation,

neither dead nor alive, are we bound just to be free?

Here's the link to my latest studio-produced music track completed  today
http:dhushara.com/nino/ride.mp3

The Long Ride - aka a 40 year conjugal affair - following on from the remastered "Love" see: http:dhushara.com/nino/

As usual it's about truly loving the one you're with, but it's also about time and the way life flashes past before our eyes before we know what's happened, so its a warning to all of us not to become fixated on our neuroses and negative attitudes towards one another - because life is too short!.

The Long Ride

Have we been slumbering in the dreamtime?
As life hurtles on before our eyes.
Shooting through it in a state of sheer distraction.
A mortal condition with which we all can sympathize.
Can we still catch the living moment?
And open the gates of time and tide?

Did we gaze upon eternity
in fleeting moments we seldom recognize?
Did we become entangled in one another
just to discover the truth in how time flies?
You know our hearts have not been broken,
so we have to know we've been in for the long ride.

Do you remember - the first time we met?
We lay all night in your little tent together
making passionate love as if the morning would never come.

Wandering the streets - of old Penang
taking a bus from Medan to Lake Toba
fireflies in the monkey forest, small bats flying over.

Living on our land - of Opuhi.
Crouching together in the smoke of the meeting house.
Walking with the children down to the school bus

Staring across the gulf -  at the islands.
Listening in the moonlight to the call of the Morepork,
little breezes shivering, crickets making small talk.

Decades have passed. Our children - have had children.
Biding our times, abiding whole seasons.
The cry and the smile of love beyond reason.

My gratitude to you - is  ever flowing.
As long as we journey the good life together
you always will be my perennial lover.

Through many long years I've been loving you
You've always been standing by my side
In times of separation and togetherness.
Through the very flux and change we are entwined.
So this is a song of recognition
to acknowledge the tortuous journey of our lives.

Samsara

Another very sexy song ...
The first final cut of my latest single.
Samsara in mp3 - Lyrics and other tracks

It's an antidote ...
fertility unraveling 'divinity'
and all the hubris that comes with it.

There is an important issue here. Religions have a very distorted view of sexuality, which is actually the biological process through which we became sentient beings. Sexual beings which are not parthenogenetic are mortal, so sex is also linked to individual mortality, amid the diverse variety of individuals and life forms that make nature, society and individuality possible.

Muslim paradise is said to be full of black eyed virgins, seventy-two for each man remade virginal anew every morning.  This is clearly a distorted fantasy based on paradise fulfilling male sexual obsession rather than the recombinational diversity of life and the passage of the generations. Where the good believing Muslim wives of a man, one or many, fit into this picture is marginal at best.

Likewise Christian heaven is full of ostensibly male angels, who have no sex because they are now supposed to be eternal beings who don't need sex. Where the women in heaven figure has never been clarified ever since the sons of God cohabited with the daughters of men early in Genesis before the flood. Once again this is a fallacious assault on the creative potentiality of sex to generate new life, extended in Eve's original curse for eating the fruit of wisdom, and in her shadow, women cursed as the devil's gateway, and sexuality cursed as the bestial medium of the downfall that leads to Christianity's impossible contradiction of sexual guilt and fatal error of cosmological deceit.

We know there is a complete credibility gap between all the evidence of molecular genetics, the archeological and geological records showing life's emergence and evolution over a three billion year period and the fantastic delusion that, because of the literal interpretation of Genesis one's delightful allegory of creation, that God created the universe and paradoxically land, oceans and plants before the sun and moon, the world, and all life within it, was simply a divine watchmaker's creation by God a mere four thousand years ago. To believe such an allegory as physical truth, on the basis of the Bible being literally God's word, is idolatry of the book, and a tragic fallacy.

But it is the betrayal of the generative life flow and sexuality as its basis, that is religion's darkest, most deceitful primal sin.

It is from our sexuality, not our spiritual pretensions, that the abundance of life and the capacity for sentient consciousness comes.

Again Buddhism claims the physical world is just illusion of the cycle of life, from birth to death and assumed rebirth, which is what the name samsara comes down to. This is again a betrayal of the fecundity of nature because it is from the wheel of life that our conscious capacity for experiencing nirvana comes, and if that enlightenment is based on renunciation and rejection of the very life force which sustains it, accompanied by fantasy worlds of hungry ghosts and others, the whole edifice is a false contraption, again doomed to tragic failure.

And it is not just Vishnu dreaming the universe in Brahma's lotus navel but the Tantric origin of Shiva-Shankar and Shakti-Kali in sexual embrace of sentient mind and physical world that is the  origin of life, the universe and everything.

Hence this song is dedicated to Samsara, as the living spirit of life's entanglements, as a sexual love song to Kali, to Shakti, as femme fatale, and to impermanence and to the creative life flow which comes from change in time through which we all came into being.

Samsara

Nirvana 1

Have we landed right in Heaven, is this Paradise?
Could the lazy days of summer feel even half as nice?
Are we slipping into Nirvana as the days go by?
Is this brightness sheer enlightenment under the deep blue sky?

I have always been wondering what makes it all.
The meaning in existence. The way things fall.
The way our lives are scattered to the winds of fate.
The tumult and the chaos, when it's just too late.

But why are we hungering for eternal life
when peaceful coexistence gives way to endless strife?
The way of immortality is clear to see,
not deathly Armageddon, but living diversity.

Samsara

Oh Samsara, you living temptress
your love is going to drive me senseless
Spiraling our way into one another
in our sensual intimacy.

Though our lives may be ephemeral,
though flesh is weak and minds are fallible,
so long as our lives have perennially blossomed
we are replenishing the grail of love.

Neither were we just dust to dust,
nor are we simply ashes to ashes,
but the fertile seeds of procreation
amid the fecund ova of regeneration.

I pledge again my love to you
even though nothing can ever be the same
for our longing for forever
lies floating adrift on the oceans of change.

Oh Samsara, essential being
my love for you is not just a feeling
but the fountain of life brimming right over
in our physical ecstasy.

Nirvana 2

Some say Paradise is full of black-eyed virgins
waiting upon our physical urges.
To fulfill our every sexual fantasy.
To climax our utmost sensation.

While others say the Heavens are full of angels
in dressing gowns, with white feathered wings.
That there can be no actual sex in Heaven,
because we have become celestial things.

Did you say the wheel of life is just a vacuum?
Did you say the world is full of hungry ghosts?
Have you forgotten Shankar's debt to Kali?
That Vishnu was not just dreaming the universe?

Samsara (as before)

Music as Edge of Chaos Complexity

All music is deemed to be 1/f , fleshy 'pink' noise, characteristic of chaos and edge-of chaos complexity. Pink noise also strikes the balance between the memory-less randomness of 'white' noise and the monotonous predictability of 'brown' and 'black'.

Central to my musical production is the presentation of the conscious moment as one of complex uncertainty at the edge of chaos. To achieve this, I produce digitally mastered multi-track live recordings (8 to 16 stereo levels deep), which combine lyrics calculated to unravel our treasured cultural, religious and sexual assumptions, with instrumental improvisations designed to reveal their cutting-edge-of-chaos complexity only after many listening episodes, as multiple 'avatars' of my own conscious uncertainty 'moving on the face of the waters' in response to the developing piece.

I use many different kinds of world string instrument, including Appalacian dulcimer and Vietnamese classical instruments illustrated below, as well as keyboards, flutes, bells and live percussion, Tui, Kokako, and our nemesis, the Piwakawaka in memory of Maui.

Instruments used include Appalacian duclimer and Vietnamese zither and chordphone.

Each track has a unique lyrical foundation, with outline notes on its genesis. For the full suite of Nino Songs and their lyrics and all my research and written works go to: http://www.dhushara.com/

Verdant Unveiling: http://www.dhushara.com/nino/verdant.mp3

Completed yesterday. For our survival we need to turn apocalyptic tumult into reflowering the tree of living diversity. The apocalypse, or unveiling, is not Armageddon, but our bridal unveiling, in sexual reunion, under the Tree of Life, which God desecrated out of his loneliness and jealousy.

Burning Season: http://www.dhushara.com/nino/burning.mp3

A love ballad, echoing the Amazon burning season, about a beautiful internet love affair that resulted in a journey together, traversing the wild shores of Aotearoa, but was to be only for a season, because we each had deep family roots in opposite poles of the planet. See also Tane and Kohiti Rose.

Pandora: http://www.dhushara.com/nino/pandora.mp3

One of many celebrations of my ongoing long-term love affair with my partner Christine, sung giddily by both of us midverse. For more on our love songs Love, Overflowing, Uncertainty and Shadows of Your Mind and our written work, see Sexual Paradox.

Last Temptation: http://www.dhushara.com/nino/temptation.mp3

A gnostic noir unraveling the crucifixion, in the first person of Jesus speaking as the twin brother of Judas, as in the Gospels of Thomas and Judas, and as the lover of Mary and Martha, as in many gnostic works, and Kazantzakis' book by the same name.

See also Hymn to the Epoch completed with singers and a lyrical violinist in Old Jerusalem, the gnostic Dialogue of the Savior sung with Christine in 96 minors spanning every key and Eyal Loz on didjeridoo, and Black Rose a beautiful ironical dialogue with a Zionist fundamentalist woman from Tsvat who thought I was the Thief in the Night stealing the Holy of Holies of the Torah, for claiming the Song of Songs was a Tantric love poem, with Christine providing the spikenard as the Shulamite bride.

Deja Vu: http://www.dhushara.com/nino/dejavu.mp3

A song on dreaming and non-ordinary reality and the quest for the existential bridge between subjective consciousness and the physical world, with Eyal Loz playing drums.

The Song of the Tree

Maschiach as Tree of Life - Hannah Omer

Here is the
live mp3 of the Tree of Life song just produced - 17-10-09
Nino songs in mp3 and lyrics

Verdant Unveiling
(mp3 download)

You know that we have always been wandering
down to the moisture of the shore line
We seem to have walked forever on thin ice together
as if we're running out of time.

You know that I have always been loving you
since the very first moment I met you.
You know you're the apple blossom of my orchard
the land of milk and honey of my heart.

You know that I will always be hungering
for the enchantment of your longing,
lost in the music of your incandescence,
exiled in the rapture of our love.

We both know that the world has been turning
that wild storms are coming, that forests are burning,
that we might be heading towards a terrible shake out
and no one knows the writing on the wall.

We ran hand in hand through the midst of the garden,
lay under the trees of life.
Ate all the sweet fruit in a state of abandon,
without any trouble or strife.

Made passionate love in the glades in the sunshine,
and swam in the tall waterfalls.
We never once saw any signs of destruction
and no impenetrable walls.

But God came along all jealous and lonely
and cast us all out in the mire.
Drove a great flaming sword right into the gateway
and set half the world on fire.

We know that we have always been dreaming
the great unveiling is to come,
no longer seeing through a glass darkly,
knowing cheek to cheek we are one,

traveling companions in grateful compassion
mutual empathy, personal freedom
the right to say "No I will not believe you!
I'll make my mind up for myself".

We know that the dark word of doom is "apocalypse".
They say we are heading right for the precipice
that we will all have to face Armageddon
to be cleansed of our sins with pure fire,

but I say to you, we don't need conflagration
it was always the journey, not the destination,
the time has now come for the greening of Tierra
reflowering the tree of all life.
