Apocalypsia movie released with key


I have just released the 5-hour movie "Apocalypsia" of our millennial vigil in 2000 onto YouTube with a 30 minute key introduction. The movie covers our entire journey from the Amazon to Jerusalem via Varanasi and Rome. At the very least it makes a unique travel movie, but it also has paradigm shifting implications.  The introductory key explains what it was all about in a 30-minute impromptu account out of nowhere 13 years on.

"Mashiach of the Tree of Life?"

What do I mean when I say I am "Mashiach of the Tree of Life"?

A messiah is a prophetic hero, or heroine, who brings about an age of long-term future goodness. I am making a root challenge to the existing order, which people will come to find is as controversial and explosive as the teachings in the year zero, because it will overturn both our religious and scientific ideas of the universe in a conscious chain-reaction.

Beyond the apocalyptic age of tumult and triage lies the immortal age of the Tree of Life, hidden since the Fall from Eden, but promised in the Unveiling. We all yearn for this. Not only is it the healing of all our fear, pain and mortal angst, but it is essential for the survival of our offspring and the immortal passage of the generations that we can discover how to come together to cherish the Earth and replenish its natural living diversity, while at the same time coming to know in our own illumination the transcendental nature of the conscious quest in the universe face to face, here and now. I am the conduit for this process and I have the credentials to bring it about successfully.

With my commitment, and your support, the future survival of the human race and the diversity of life can be protected. Given your trust, I do have the capacity to show you how to bring about the age of reflowering, in which all our living futures can be realized, the rape of the planet healed and the clash of the civilizations resolved, by being a healing mirror unraveling both religious imperatives and pretensions which could destroy us, and ill-conceived human impacts which could lay waste to our planetary future. This is a mirror which fills the void between nature and transcendence and shows how we each and all can become a meaningful part of the planetary awakening, through which we no longer see through a glass darkly, but now face to face.

You don't have to take this on faith. You can hold me to account as a personal colleague and peer. I can demonstrate my integrity, and show you exactly how this process comes about. I can make real the veracity of my challenge to the existential condition to end the era of the Fall and bring about the closing circle of reconciliation in reflowering the life tree in both natural and scientific terms and in fulfilling the religious and spiritual destinies of humanity, but I need your wholehearted support for this protection to become a reality.

I am not a cult leader or guru, but merely a sacramental agent through which the mystery becomes revealed to all of us in a way which can become a coherent expression of human illumination we can all share, see, feel and manifest. I am not Jesus, or a reincarnation of Jesus, but the eye of the hurricane. I have the living credentials to be the person in the place at the time to reflower the living tradition and fertilize the immortal age of paradise.

This is a quest that has many echoes in history, from our gatherer-hunter emergence out of Africa, through the Fall from Eden to Apocalypse and Armageddon, in the lives of Solomon and Jesus too, but the real test is not in the crises and heroic figures of former times who are forerunners of the real awakening, but now in this generation and into the verdant and fertile future, because we stand at a tipping point for the planet and this is the time the full awakening runs its course and we discover the universe is not meaningless, but alive and personal in its full transcendental consciousness.

The Song of Songs and the Living Universe

I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.

Collective Messiah and Beneficent Futures

In Eliyahu’s words above the Mount of Olives during our all-night celebration on Millennium Eve: “we are together the collective mashiach and our vision here tonight will spread peace in our hearts and peace on the city of peace below Jerusalem - and be a light for peace in the whole world, and in the whole universe”.

This vision of the collective messiah coincides closely with the description of the messianic dream manifest in children in Rabbi Adin Steinsalz’s ‘The Messiah Complex’ : “Therefore school children are all "my messiahs" [Chr 1 16:22], each one of them is within the category of a small messiah. And if he is not a messiah, whether in his present capacity or in his potential future, at any rate he belongs within the category of small messiah through the power of his will, the power of his dreams. From the inner Jewish world view it is possible to say, that each member of Israel has in him, in some way, a messianic spark.”

One of the most poignant and enjoyable aspects of my meeting with Yitzhaq in Jerusalem was the ability of people of different paths to sit around the table together and discuss their beliefs and traditions, as one shares a bottle of good wine, and one’s idiosyncratic cultural treasures, in a spirit of equitability, each learning insights from the others, in a way which brings mutual wisdom.

A particularly fertile aspect of the Jewish concept of the messiah is that it is a natural process inspiring living human beings to seek the long-term future goodness of humanity in a personal heroic vision quest. Again Rabbi Adin Steinsalz’s words: “A Messianic complex is not just the general wish - be it overt or covert - to redeem the world or to improve the conditions of the world, but it includes another component just as important. The messianic wish is not merely a general wish for improved conditions and for changes for the better, but the wish of that private person to become personally the redeemer of the world.”

It is a central tragedy of Christianity that this natural vision of redemption has been stolen from the living people by the pagan crafting of the heroic identity of Jesus as man-god Lord and savior, so that the spontaneous original virtue that resides in the messianic quest has been supplanted by an original sin which leaves humanity helpless except through the semi-divine intervention of the Lord in a Second Coming which Yeshua stated would occur in his own generation.

Part of the reason mainstream Judaism sees Yeshua as a false prophet and the Talmud Sanhedrin refers to ‘Balaam the Lame’ is that Yeshua’s pretensions to wild natural miracles and espousal by female patronage to his own sacrificial demise are more characteristic of the contemporary Dionysian fertility worship of Nabatea than of the Pharisaic traditions of Israel. And it is these very features, which also caused Christianity to sweep across the pagan world.

Apocalypse: Bridal Unveiling versus Patriarchal High Noon

In a deeper sense, both the notion of an apocalyptic unveiling and the messianic quest can be seen as a cultural imprint on the emerging human stream of consciousness, in which we have faced tumult and future shock in the process of coming from gatherer-hunter bands, through conflict of civilizations, to an awareness of the closing circle of planet Earth and the greater cosmological scheme in the scientific age.

Thus the founding myths of Genesis, to which Yitzhaq frequently refers, form an axis beginning with a falling out of relationship with nature and with the depth of communion with the ‘divine’ and a sexual falling out between woman and man in the patriarchal ascendance, leading down the corridors of history to the final unveiling in the age of apocalypse we all now face.

Apocalypse means ‘unveiling’ - something unmistakably associated with the veiling of women and with marriage. In Jewish tradition, unveiling has a deep connection with the struggle against matrilineal patterns we find in Laban’s kin. Jacob thinks he is marrying Rachel, but finds, after failing to unveil her, that he has been tricked into marrying Leah, leading to his seven year vigil, finally escaping the clutches of his matriarchal in laws to found the patriarchal tradition of Israel, albeit still punctuated by matriarchal inheritance of the Jewish line through the mother.

Hence in Jewish marriage ceremonies, the bride is unveiled for a period before the religious consummation, both to allow the power of her radiance to shine forth through Shekhinah - the feminine face of God - and also critically to make sure who she is to avoid Jacob’s plight. Muslim women wearing the Burqa take the warning - you are treading on ancient ground - the requirement to unveil for ID checks in public is older than both Islam and the modern age!

However, in the patriarchal tradition of monotheism, apocalypse is associated with tumult and discord in the culmination of the messianic age in which each path sees its ultimate destiny in becoming the sanctified of the supreme dominant faith of the true God ostensibly throughout the entire world. The apocalyptic way of the one God has thus led to some of the most serious strife facing the planet and a real risk that monotheism will bring about, not an era of long-term future goodness, but the hellish destruction of military, nuclear and ecological Armageddon upon us all.

Abrahamic Syntheses and Divine Contradictions

Part of the seeking to unify the mythical, and in a sense historical, peoples of Abraham is a striving for a unity of viewpoint between Israelites and Arabs and between Jewish and Islamic religions, each of which on their own are liable to an apocalyptic high noon of ultimate diabolical supremacy.

However one fundamental difficulty with the stress on Abraham is that it doesn’t carry over to the gentiles of Christianity, nor to the non-Semitic adherents of Islam, neither of whom trace their roots from Abraham except in so far as Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad are variously perceived to originate from the covenant that Abraham made with El. However El is a significantly different entity from the God of Moses, or of Jesus, or of Muhammad, who may, from the intimations of Harran and Ur in the Bible, and many of the nomadic Benjaminite names around Sumerian Mari, be anything, from the ancient Moon god Sin, to El the old father god of Canaan.

James Tabor, in his summary ’Principles of Abrahamic Faith’ , describes the common relationship: “There is One Creator God, YHVH, the One Who will be, is and always was, beside whom there is no other. He is the Great, and Mighty, and the Awesome One – merciful and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in loyal love and faithfulness. To Him alone we offer our deepest love and highest devotion.”

He then proposes a fusion of the prophetic, Christian and Jewish ideas of the messianic culmination: “The Kingdom of God is the goal and meaning of history... In that Day YHVH Himself will dwell with humankind, the will of God will be done on earth as it is in heaven, violence among men and beasts will cease, and the knowledge of YHVH will fill the world as the waters cover the sea. YHVH will be King over all the earth ... Human beings will be able, at long last, to reach their full potential as creatures made in the image and likeness of their Creator God. … ushered in by His prophetic Messiahs / Anointed Ones, as His chief human agents who prepare the way for His coming."

Here we can already begin to see the pathological signs of God’s nature emerging as a monarchial, implicitly male Lord, ruler and creator. But this is only the good side – the rosy future. Somewhere we have lost sight of the violent jealousy and retribution of YHVH the forsaken lover of the bride Israel, and the homicidal Father Abba who sacrifices his only begotten Son in a twisted tale of guilt and the war between light and dark, fit only for the blood rites of the pagan religions Christianity sought to annihilate as false teachings, echoed in Ester and other dark Old Testament passages used by Christians to justify the messiah who has to be killed for us all to live.

So what is the relationship between the messianic quest and the identity of the abstract nameless God of 99 names, acting in history and destiny, variously referred to as Abba, al-Llah or YHVH? Is God an essential element of the messianic quest, or is the quest for collective redemption a natural manifestation of the existential condition of biological mortality, and the struggle for full understanding and reconciliation, while God is a cultural construct, or even an evolutionary trait, whose purposes are more adapted to the emergence and control of large societies?

Deity and Cosmology

To understand the nature of God, we need to look a little more carefully at what we now know about how life, the universe and everything actually comes about. At every stage of cosmological discovery, revealed religion has come into collision with the emerging scientific discoveries of the universe in which we exist, from Galileo’s excommunication for discovering the Earth orbited the Sun, to the rejection of Darwin’s discovery of biological evolution as the basis for life’s complexity.

Rather than existing on a flat Earth, with the firmament of Heaven above, we find the universe appears to be self-generating through a paradoxical series of complements. The cosmological form of the universe as a whole is intimately connected to the diversification of the infinitesimal forces of nature. The mathematical form of this is ultimately challenging and confounds our intuitive ideas of space, time and classical causality. It is intimately pervaded by chaotic processes on huge energy scales, unconceived of by even the most hyperbolic Biblical author. All of these processes appear to be self-generating and there is no hint, or indication of any kind, of an external creator, or the need for external intervention in the process of cosmic emergence.

Rather than an ordered cosmos emerging by an act of God from the chaos of tohu vohu, existential reality presents as a series of symmetry-broken complements - wave and particle, body and mind, female and male, as well as chaos complementing order in the generation of complexity, in a manner much more closely mirroring the Tao of yin and yang, the Tantric origin of Shakti and Shiva retreating from intimate coitus, and the fertile overflowing of the Song of Songs, than the seven day act of Sabbatical Creation, full of manifest endearing contradictions, such as the Earthly plants coming into existence epochs before the Sun.

If we look around the universe, from the annihilating maelstroms of black holes, through the nuclear furnaces of stars and elusive shadows of dark matter to the freezing wastes of outer space for a place where God might exist, we are inexorably led back to the biota of living planets and to the conscious brain, which for all its fragility and mortal ephemerality, is the perennial interactive culmination of all the forces of nature in complete integration, from the quark through protons and neutrons to atomic nuclei, atoms and molecules, through proteins and nucleic acids and on to the fractal structures of organelles, cells, tissues, organs and organisms. Thus, in our search for God, we find ourselves back at ground zero, the very source of the messianic quest - our own selves.

Moreover the informational deluge of the genetic age following the human genome project has shown us irreversibly that life evolves, and does so based on extremely subtle and complex physical laws, which no attempt to finesse the bogey of creationism into ‘intelligent design’ can hope to model, let alone understand . This is a fundamental folly, coming from the application of human ideas of industrial design to God forging the entire universe in the same classical way we make bridges, automobiles, computers and watches, none of which are alive, or conscious, or capable of generating living systems. The very notion of creator God thus smacks of human projection of a very limited kind.

We now see the heavens we thought were up in the sky are a radiation-filled vacuum, and that most, if not all, of the cosmological ideas of religion are willfully imaginative human fantasies. This holds equally true for evolving ideas of the afterlife from the old Hebrew idea of Sheol, through the sexless Christian heaven with angels bearing feathered wings to fly in the airy skies, to the hyper-sexed Islamic heaven full of black-eyed virgin houris, created anew every morning for the carnal pleasure of men, let alone the diabolical intimations of hell fire used to make us cower into submission.

This means that if we are going to understand the mysteries of consciousness and the claimed spiritual dimension of the existential condition, let alone our cosmic origins, we may have to approach this quest with something more like the radical transformative spirit of skeptical inquiry of science and look for vastly more paradoxical, complex and subtle solutions, than the legislative feudal Lord riding the apocalypse on a white horse, the Shi’ite Mahdi trying to attract him to worship at Mecca, or the demiurge cosmocrator in the guise of an old man with white woolly hair.

Also hidden in the patriarchal divine fantasy is the repression of the intrinsic sexuality of the universe as evil, and the subjugation of the feminine aspect to God. In contrast to the ‘Elohistic account of the sabbatical creation, expressing God in the plural, with man and woman conceived in ‘their’ likeness, consistent with the congregation of the mighty of the Psalms, and with the presence of the Asherah and Heavenly Host in Hebrew worship, in the Eden genesis, which appears to be a Judaic account, we find YHVH wandering alone in the garden. He is so incensed by Eve’s deceiving Adam into eating what she thought was the fruit of life-giving wisdom, but was actually the fruit of dark and light division, that Eve was cursed and Adam was cursed and they were both thrown out of paradise by a flaming sword, to live as mortals under pain of childbirth, with woman now firmly under the rule of man, as man is under the vengeful thumb of God.

We can see this as a founding stream of consciousness description of falling from the arboreal gatherer-hunter wilderness into patriarchal urban empire and conflict, just as the unveiling is the final stage of this process of culture shock. Nevertheless this creation myth results in oppression, with man ruling over woman, as God rules over man, in the assertion of an inequitable regime of pure dominance, just as dark and light become warring opposites, fractured from the healing wholeness of the immortal Tree of Life - the very process which the Zohar declares caused the Shekhinah to retreat until her return in sparks or shards in the unveiling.

Moreover the feminine sacred was demoted and shattered - Hochmah of the Proverbs, who cried out that she was there with Him from everlasting, before his works of old, is relegated to mere practicality. Shekhinah retreats de-sexed of her power to become merely the feminine face of His presence on Earth. Asherah, symbolic of the immortality of the Tree of Life, is cast out of the Temple and burned with the bones of her priests and priestesses in the Vale of Kidron, in the shadow of Deuteronomy - that apocryphal text ‘discovered’ in the Temple, for whom the prophetess Huldah was maneuvered by a posse of men into acknowledging as ‘genuine’, thus making women to blame for their own plight, in such punishments as being stoned for adultery for not crying out when raped, or not possessing the tokens of virginity, thus cementing male reproductive rule outright and showing that the whole process is driven, not by divine law but by the incessant paternity uncertainty, not shared by women, that drove the transition to patriarchal marriage.

This is a violation of the central cosmological principle, of complementarity, which also lies at the source of the emergence of human culture. Human super-intelligence appears to have arisen through neither sex having the strategic upper hand in the reproductive prisoners’ dilemma, so that each has had to run a Red Queen race to succeed in courting the opposite sex, particularly in terms of bright men possessing intelligent and witty minds, good creative skills, melodious music, accurate targeting, and good domestic and fathering skills being selectively favoured by astute women in the highly polarized reproductive process human pregnancy, lactation and child rearing involves, in which women have to make massive and risky long-term investments in parenting, while the men are prone to sewing wilds oats and yet fear paternity uncertainty with jealousy and violence. As a result of strategic sexual paradox, genes for cultural intelligence have swept rapidly through the human population. To the extent that either sex gains a fully dominant position reproductively, as patriarchal marriage laws seek to enforce, this would act to inhibit the very essence of human culture and intelligence.

YHVH and the Mysterium Tremendum

The central claim of monotheism, despite its incessant factionalism and the endless spectre of religious war, conversion by the sword, and the genocide of jihad and crusade, is that, unlike the cyclical iconic fertility deities of pagan ‘false’ religions, the nameless, faceless, abstract God acting in history is the ‘true’ God of creation, not a mere stone idol, who, despite displaying the turbulent reactive emotions we associate with human personalities, including jealousy and retribution, fit only for a totem deity, is different because He is absolute, omniscient and omnipotent. However the proponents of iconic religions have always understood these to be metaphorical symbols of a transcendent entity, just as Christianity does today in its endless figures of Jesus and Mary.

It thus serves us well, in coming closer to understanding the nature of the numinous reality behind the mysterium tremendum, to recognize that the very best of the meditative tradition of inner vision has come, not from monotheism, but from the traditions of the implicitly iconic male and female Hindu deities. It’s is the rich interaction of these, from Brahmanic Indra, through ancient Dravidian Kali and Shiva, whose origins go back to the Indus valley planter cultures contemporary with the Sumerians, that the meditative depths of insight of the Upanishadic, Buddhist and Jain thinking came about.

It is here that we can begin to see a deeper avenue to understanding the mysterium and the whole religious spectre of the quest for the supernatural in the inner journey in meditative repose to the ultimate interior cosmic ‘self’ or ‘void’ of the Buddha mind, and with it the philosophy that mind is ‘finer’ than the gross accretions of matter and thus forms a complementary realm to the physical universe.

It is in the mythical allegories of Vishnu dreaming the history of the universe, with Brahman appearing in the lotus emerging from is navel, that we come to understand how the religious quest is a manifestation of inner consciousness as a dream-time, rather than a false physical heaven in the sky generated by a legislative personality who will love us only if we obey him, but curse us in his jealousy and condemn us to hell fire if we are unfaithful.

Furthermore the god acting in history is not new. If we go back from Abraham to the gods of our African Adam and the even older African Eve, we find for example in the ancient culture of the Bushmen, whose maternal mitochondrial genes form twin human Mariana trenches of some 100,000 years separation across the Kalahari (Behar et al.), both the shamanic vision quest and abstract creation deities, whose roles in relation to humans are refreshingly subtle and paradoxical, and also reflect heroic personalities with miraculous attributes.

Bushmen believe in the existence of two gods: ≠ Gao!na a greater god manifesting the creative force and //Gauwa, a lesser god invoking the malevolent forces of uncertainty and misfortune.

≠ Gao!na, the !Kung Great God, using one of his seven divine names, created himself:

"I am Hishe. I am unknown, a stranger.
No one can command me.
I am a bad thing. I follow my own path."

Then he created a Lesser God who lives in the western sky where the sun sets; and after this two wives for himself and for the Lesser God. ≠ Gao!na, tallest of the Bushmen, was in his earthly existence a great magician and trickster with supernatural powers, capable of assuming the form of an animal, a stone or anything else he wished, and who changed people into animals and brought the dead back to life. But as the Great God who lives beside a huge tree in the eastern sky, he is the source and custodian of all things. He created the earth with holes in it where water could collect and water, the sky and rain both the gentle 'female' rain and the fierce 'male' rain thunder and lightning, the sun, moon, stars and wind. He created all the plants that grow on the earth. He created the animals and painted their individual colours and markings, and gave them all names. Then came human beings, and he put life into them; and gave to them all the weapons and implements they now have, and he implanted in them the knowledge of how to take all these things for themselves. Thus their hunting and gathering way of life was ordained from the very beginning and ≠ Gao!na ordained that when they died they should become spirits, //Gerais, who would live in the sky with him and serve him. He set the pattern of life for all things, each in accordance with its own rules.

However the Bushmen do not see these as good and evil in the manner of YHVH and Satan. When a missionary inquired into a Bushman's ideas of good and bad he was told it was 'good' to sleep with another man's wife, but 'bad' if he slept with yours. Still lamenting the Bushman's ignorance of absolute morality, he later asked the man, whom meanwhile he had discovered 'was in the habit of smoking wild hemp', what he thought was the most wonderful thing he had seen. The reply he was given was that no one thing was more wonderful than any other and that all the animals were the same.

We need to take a deep teaching from this evolutionary perspective on life, for the lessons of evolution are that disease and predators, just as plants and animals are integral to the diversity of life and a critical feature of the climax diversity that makes conscious life able to come into existence. Therefore our notions of absolute morality are flawed. While there may be a beneficent role for a greater collective consciousness expanding love and peace in the universe, we need to view this in a context founded on respecting the evolutionary diversity of life as both a natural and sacred process, with all its teeth and claws and the contradictions of sexual fidelity and betrayal.

Significantly, although the culture of Bushmen such as the !Kung-San is nominally patriarchal and male elders like to consider themselves definers of lawful arrangements, according to the accounts of Marjorie Shostak’s ‘Nisa’, women have retained a considerable degree of reproductive autonomy and relationship choice, comparable with modern society. A woman will return to her maternal family to help with at least her first birth and early child rearing and the first menstruation is celebrated as a joyful rite of immense feminine power, which can destroy a male hunter’s prowess if he inadvertently witnesses it.

Pivotal to the discovery of the immanent numinous is the profound difference between monotheistic prayer and contemplative meditation, which shares attributes of personal vigilance and autonomy with the older shamanic vision quest pervading world cultures. While Zen koans are paradoxes and the mantra Om Mane Padme Hum is a verbal recitation of a single concept designed to make the mind one-pointed and to stop the train of extraneous verbal thought, prayer is a formal verbal recitation to an unseen personality in the place of an actual vision quest. It is not a direct path to empowerment and self-transcendence, but passing off one’s own autonomy to an entreaty to a higher being.

While the Jewish tradition has had a continuing current of confirmation of the life force in its people, the Christian tradition has degraded our integrity because humans are perceived to be intrinsically fallible and can achieve redemption only by appealing to the Lord Jesus Christ because of the biologically false doctrine of original sin.

Again, while the Jewish tradition has had a continuing current of mysticism in the followers of the Zohar, the Christian mystics from Meister Eckhart to Marguerite Porete have been largely suppressed and even burned at the stake, and the Sufis, whose founding traditions run back to the time of Jesus, have been variously crucified or hermetically sealed, as merely the ‘inner garment’ in a society of dominant Islam which condemns all future prophets to death because Muhammad is considered the final prophet of the monolithic world age.

Many, or even most, religions, despite their treasured sacred texts, have thus acted as much as barriers to communication with the mysterium tremendum, as conduits to it, by placing obstructions in the way of the process of discovery, aided by the intervening roles of the priesthood. The prophets crying in the wilderness have more often than not been cursed and killed, despite being the visionary link between the people and the divine, formative and essential in the emergence and development of religious traditions, while the priesthood have enforced the orthodoxy, as often through torture, murder and incarceration as through insight and spiritual wisdom. And this is not just a problem of corruption of the upper echelon, but intrinsic to the very nature of the priesthood and the fascist nature of religious social control.

The God Spot in Evolution and Brain Science

So where does the nature of God stand in evolution and in the workings of the conscious brain?

Firstly there is a fundamental contradiction in the very notion of a moral creator deity. Although we know that life has evolved through mutation and selective advantage, because the evidence is clear, both from the fossil record, and from the genetic sequences of diverse species, even if we don’t presume this, no God who created life the way it is, with its climax diversity spanning both predator and prey, and parasite and host, designed it on the basis of the moral obedience of any species, however dominant, let alone a riveting focus on any particular one of the countless planets orbiting myriads of stars and galaxies in the universe as we know it. Even if God had a particular affection for planet Earth, or a deep desire to see conscious life become morally and ethically aware of its own existential predicament, devising the biota to survive adaptively by tooth and claw, is in complete contradiction to demanding the very opposite as a consummation - that the lion lie down with the lamb, as Isaiah fervently hoped and that all forms of dissention would cease to exist. No creator deity would intentionally give the power to make free choices, only to command his creations not to disobey him under pain of eternal damnation. All such ideas are a grotesque sadistic product of oppressive human patriarchal logic designed to perpetuate and control large dominant human societies through fear and oppression particularly of the female.

Secondly the dynamics which have been used to associate religiosity with evolution and the brain come in two opposing forms, reflecting the prophetic and orthodox currents above. Some twin studies have shown that religiosity has an up to 40% genetic basis, regardless of the cultural environment of the person concerned. However what this constitutes depends on the experimental measures used, from self-transcendence through to measures of religious conformity. These differing measures highlight two very different currents.

The brain scientist Ramachandran first highlighted an area which popularly became entitled the ‘God-spot’ on the boundary between the temporal lobes and limbic system centres such as the amygdala, which serendipitously lie alongside one another. The idea of this, gleaned partly from episodes of temporal lobe epilepsy, was that primary mystico-religious experience is often associated with a combination of peak emotional fulfillment and overwhelming significance - associated with mutual hyperactivity of each of these neighbouring areas. A natural conclusion could be that evolution has arrived at a human brain attuned to mystical insight. However, although this may be true to a certain extent, people endowed with such faculties have often been rejected, treated as lunatics, or even killed by the societies from which they came or at best given guarded, somewhat isolated existences, as shamans, healers, witches, prophets or other intermediaries with the unseen world, so it remains unclear such traits on their own are a selective advantage, although they might be genetically linked with other traits such as creative insight which might compensate.

A completely countervening evolutionary trend is the one toward religious conformity and the propensity for belief in a moral deity, with powers of punishment of transgressors, on the basis that such traits enable larger more dominant societies of believers to survive and prosper. Thus an evolutionary trend, in which people seek simple ordered belief systems enforcing a moral regime, may aid the survival of large societies, despite the fact that it reduces the autonomy and capacity for religious discovery of the individuals who possess this trait. This is consistent with the biological theory of morality as a means to reduce intra-social strife to enhance inter-social dominance. Many of the central elements of monotheistic worship fit closely with this idea. An invisible moral deity, who is omnipresent, and aware of our thoughts and desires, demands fidelity on a national or global scale is optimally suited to influence our actions in a way which will reduce our likelihood of exploiting at least other members of our own religious following, even if we consider it a divine duty to annihilate the infidels in the name of God‘s divine plan.

Research into a variety of religious practices, from Carmelite nuns, through Buddhist monks, to young university students in a variety of settings, supports a diversity of such components of religious belief spanning these two opposing currents.

This brings us back to the avenues of conscious exploration humanity has discovered access to embracing prophetic vision, meditative contemplation, the shamanic vision quest, the use of trance states induced by psychotropic and psychedelic plants and fungi, and the varied states of lucid to ‘precognitive’ dreaming and finally related deep conscious states, such as so-called near death experiences. Although many of these involve unworldly experiences, in which a huge variety of situations can occur, from sweeping visionary panoramas, to witnessing a deep connection to all life across space-time, they all appear to be accompanied by the activity of a conscious biological brain, so until we can fathom exactly how consciousness is generated it remains unclear whether such visionary experiences can transcend the biological reality in which we are embedded.

Before coming to any conclusions about God or His moral or ethical covenant with humanity, we need to explore the varieties of conscious experience without preconceptions, or predilections, in the same skeptical spirit of truth the scientific inquiry engages with the physical universe.

Shulamite Apocalypse: Free-will, Living Redemption and Sexual Destiny

The quest for the cosmic redemption of life is thus a fundamental attribute of the existential condition, which has much deeper roots than the Abrahamic epoch. Indeed it is a fundamental aspect of the way conscious beings find themselves in the mortal coil and thus have no option, as sexual beings, but to give their best to the ongoing future of their progeny and to life as a whole.

Just as Rabbi Adin Steinsalz speaks of the children of Israel, so children the world over find themselves facing a situation where their voyage of life is pitted against the vagaries of fate and its true redemption lies in making the vision quest of the mortal condition to help bring about a greater unveiling for the generations of life to come.

This existential quest is deeply embedded in the complementarity of body and soul we find at the root of the existential condition and is the one true panacea for all the travails of selfishness and exploitation, which of themselves can do no good for us because, no matter what fame and fortune, or temporal power we attain, we can’t take it with us when we go.

Whether there is a disembodied conscious afterlife or a deeper principle of conscious relativity which unites all conscious beings as one manifestation of the universe coming to discover itself in its own maha-samadhi apocalypse over space-time, doesn’t really make any difference, because it is what we do now as biological beings which will bring about the redemption of existence around us, or let it slide into oblivion.

In this respect, it is the tenuous thread of personal autonomy we call free will, which is our critical asset in being able to make any difference to the world around us. The core reason evolution has arrived at the conscious brain, is because it provides life’s best chance of anticipating threats to survival and giving us all a chance to live another day. So in regard to the notion of future destiny, which Rabbi Soloveichic in ‘Destiny, not causality, governs Israelite history’ , suggests is paramount, we need to understand destiny is neither fixed by causality, nor is a future preconceived by divine will, nor even set, like an apple in the eye, by the national psyche, but generated consciously through the paradox of free will expressed in each and every one of us, as sentient beings shaping history together. We thus have little choice but to take personal responsibility for the world situation in which we find ourselves, because it is the messianic quest which lies at the very core of our conscious being.

The messianic quest is thus real and leads naturally to our redemption, even though the many spectres of God acting in history could well be a cultural, or even an evolutionary aberration. Just as we can’t afford to take the baggage of spiritual materialism with us, neither can we afford to corrupt our intrinsic virtue to false assumption of divine providence. The future of the universe remains our personal responsibility as long as we continue to exist in the mortal coil.

This is also extremely pertinent for the future of Israel and Palestine, for the Middle East, for humanity as a whole and for the ecological future of planet Earth, because it may be that, only by descending into the abyss of tohu vohu and realizing the universal nature of the messianic quest common to all people, and the suppressed nature of the feminine, which in the prisoners’ dilemma of yin and yang, contains the keys to the long-term investment in future offspring that secures the stability of humanity from the boom and bust mortal risk-taking of patriarchal reproduction, will the world become a safe, sustainable place for life to flourish.

But the unveiling is also finally the end of the messianic era - even the messianic quest of world redemption has become tainted with the patriarchal imperative, as a predominantly male quest - so we are being drawn into the primal chaos of a sexual reflowering, in which the Song of Songs between woman and man again becomes a true Holy of Holies, and the Shulamite bride returns from the wilderness to reclaim her sovereignty, as co-conceiver of world futures, under the tree of all life, in a true marital unveiling beyond our wildest dreams.

Who is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon,
clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners?
Return, return, O Shulamite; return, return, that we may look upon thee.
What will ye see in the Shulamite? As it were the company of two armies.

True Nature and Belief in God


I'll try to give you an outline of where things stand from my 'point of view', re life, the universe, and everything including Yeshua and the Bible. It does have something deep to do with fractals. It's a fair challenge on the part of life itself. It is working within the religious tradition to try to bring about a natural flowering of future goodness.

I grew up as an Anglican, which is hardly a religion since it was invented by Henry the 8th for a divorce, but it still has traditional protestant features and keeps the communion. I went to Sunday school and sang in the choir and feared God as an invisible entity, who I thought I should do right by and prayed to in the night.

Then when I came of age in the 60s, the psychedelic revolution hit me. I can remember the first time I read of LSD in the local tabloid, long before it became notorious. The article immediately made my hair stand on end. I fearfully knew I would somehow, sometime, somewhere end up discovering its 'psychotic' secrets as part of a far-ranging exploration, from Eastern mysticism to Finnegan's wake. When I did, in London as a graduate student, I died and was reborn - a number of times. The overwhelming irreversible conclusion I came to was that the universe, and is inner secrets, were deeply and fundamentally different from anything like our traditional idea of God and religion, and much more ingenious and confounding in their manifestations.

Tissues are fractal manifestations of the symmtery-breaking of the forces of nature.

From that point, I had to know how life began, what consciousness is, how evolution gave rise to the conscious brain, and how all this relates to the cosmological process. I hesitate to call it the 'design of nature' because this intimates echoes of the 'intelligent design' idea, which is a gross metaphor for technology. As we design a watch, so God designs us even more ingeniously than we can imagine. This makes no explanatory sense, and is just a recursive projection of our industrial culture on to the cosmos. And who designs the designer? We are a self generative fractal cosmos, not a toy made by a skeleton in the closet.

Seven years later I took my first sabbatical from university, split from my partners and young family and wandered India as a sadhu, meeting some very high lamas and other spiritual practitioners, looking into the depths of the contemplative mind, which the Eastern tradition claims is a reflection of the cosmic conscious self, or no-self, as the case may be, in the reality contest between the Upanishads and Buddhist perspectives. In Europe and the US I investigated molecular biology. Finally I made a journey to the native origins of the world's power plants, taking peyote with the native American Church, the magic mushroom teonanactl in many places, and ayahuasca - the vine of the soul - with a leprous shaman in the Amazon basin.

Since then I have spent most of my life studying developments in the origins of life, evolution and consciousness, with a mathematical basis in chaos and quantum uncertainty, which in turn has something deep to do with free will. What I have to say about the 'design' of the universe is this: The universe is a cosmological fractal unfolding in space time. All the laws of chemistry and of molecular biology, from proteins up to tissues, and whole organisms give rise to an evolving quantum fractal. It is the Sigma of interactive complexity - paradise on the cosmic equator - that forms and apex between Alpha and Omega of creation and destruction. The theory of everything at the core is not just to make galaxies, stars and black holes, but centrally to make life and the evolution of complex sentient conscious life possible - for a purpose which is the universe discovering itself, through the biota over epochs. This is a sacred, cosmic and spiritual reality, which is also physical and natural reality. We don't need to fudge it to God. It's here and it's real and it's urgent that we understand it deeply and act toward it respectfully, and very sensitively, for the future of all life and the generations to come depend on us.

If we look out at the physical universe and try to ask where is it that we will find the spark of conscious awareness, the answer is not in the centre of stars or in the dark matter and energy in the vast reaches of the heavens, but in the very biota of which we are an integral part. It is we who carry the crucible of consciousness within us and it is to ourselves we must thus turn to discover the inner secrets of gnosis which we have a deep urge to pass on to God. This is not something we can afford to renege on, or we will surely fail and possibly annihilate ourselves in apocalyptic tumult.

The origins of life are not a precipitous divide between God's perfect design and blind groping by chance. The fractal laws of nature not only make life possible, but to all intents and purposes richly abundant, on the cosmic equator in space-time, of which life on Earth is a pearl of an example. The idea that life cannot come into being spontaneously is rapidly fading due to discoveries over the past couple of years showing how simple molecules can, through their fractal relationships, reach the point of the last universal common ancestor. Because we are conscious and have inherited, through our own actions, personal responsibility for the future of life on Earth, we HAVE to come to terms of guardianship that will ensure the continuity and diversity of life for the generations to come. This is an heroic quest, which stands very clearly in the context of the messianic quest for world redemption, so, with or without God, we have an undeniable responsibility to assume what you might call Christ nature, or Madonna nature.

I have researched in depth the cultural origins of the Judeo-Christian God acting in history. In 1999-2000 I also made a millennial sabbatical vigil to Jerusalem, at the invitation of the son of one of the founders of Tel Aviv, and gave a workshop on the Tree of Life and unveiling reunion in a litle academy on the Old City overlooking the main souk down to al-Aqsa and the Temple. What I learned about Christianity from my time in Israel was intriguing and also disturbing, as it showed me that fundamentally the Hebrew religion was the true mother tradition and Christianity was a pagan distortion of the path of the covenant, looking ever more degraded and hollow in the Old City and surviving best a long distance from its source, where myth and fable take the place of hard realities.

Now this brings me to the person of Jesus and the apocalyptic quest. I have a great deal of admiration for Jesus and regard him as a benefactor and forerunner of our own existential dilemma. I have spent a long time poring over his many paradoxical sayings in both the synoptic gospels and founding gnostic works, such as the Gospel of Thomas, which I hold very dearly, as well as his 'miraculous' deeds. In my opinion Jesus was a genius reconceiver of the cultural and religious paradigm, who attempted to rescue, not just the lost sheep of Israel, but bring about a cultural fusion of the diverse spiritual traditions of his day, on the basis that, if the apocalyptic unveiling were to be real, it would require celebrating it in a manner that flowed from every tradition, both pagan and kosher.

So on this basis, Jesus was anointed by a woman, followed by the women of Galilee, supported by the women out of their very substance. His miracles stem not from the Hebrew tradition, but from the tradition of miraculous dread of Nabatea where Dhushara the Lord of Seir, was an ancient and later Dionysian god, whose tragic mask of death was the portal to immortal life. It is here we find the turgid and turbid nature miracles, from walking on water, through causing the pigs to drown, to the true vine and water into wine on the very day of the epiphany of Dionysus, not in the Hebrew path which abhors 'miracle' workers and aspires always for a living human messiah, who will bring about a long-term epoch of peace and prosperity, as Solomon did, despite his many wives and their many strange religions.

As we have seen, Jesus' actions also stand in the fertility tradition. His mission took off in echo of John the Baptist, whose head was taken on a plate by Salome who danced Ishtar-Inanna's dance of the seven veils, returning from the underworld to claim her improprietous husband Tamuz-Dumuzzi, now in the person of Jochanan as the mortal sacrifice, just as Jesus was sacrificed, having been anointed to his doom by a woman, who is also reputed to have been his partner. According to Josephus, this sacrifice of John was caused directly by Herod taking his cousin Herodias his brother Philip's wife, for his own, rejecting his previous wife - no less than the princess of Nabatea - who had to flee for her life, resulting in a war between Herod and King Aretas and Queen Shaqilat, the conjoint rulers of Nabatea, which was the cause of the generals being present at the feast of John's beheading.

This attempt to bridge fertility and Hebrew apocalyptic religion is why the Talmud claims Jesus was Balaam the Lame who hearkens out of Edom. It is why he has never been recognized as the true messiah of Israel, although there is a small following of Jewish Christians who think otherwise.

Nevertheless I find Jesus' lessons and insights profound. However we both know that, before his death, he said that people would not see death before he returned on the right hand of power, and the Christian church is founded only as a temporary guardianship until the return of the Lord as the 'thief in the night'. But we find 2000 years later that it is the church that is centrally responsible for making it impossible for any flesh and blood messiah to save the world and its living diversity, by launching Jesus into a pagan demi-God status unlike any Jewish messiah, making it impossible to move on to the phase beyond the self-destructive tumult of apocalypse, to the bridal unveiling of reunion under the Tree of Life, which we all ultimately seek, and hunger for, in paradise.

Now regarding the authenticity of the books of the old testament purporting to prophesy Yesha's coming, such as Isaiah. Although Christian forefathers have bent over backwards to construe as many 'prophecies' as they can into Jesus' mission and crucifixion, this doesn't mean Isaiah is not a genuine text. I would accept that Isaiah has been edited by two to four authors (deutero, tritio etc.) at various times through the period of the exile and possibly up to around 200BC. But this doesn't mean that they have been tampered with to make them look as if Jesus was the prophesied messiah. Jesus played out very carefully a Dionysian tragedy in his mission and the crucifixion, which was crafted to be a fulfillment of the prophecies, in an ultra-Shakesperian act of genius, from the blasphemous 'rebirthing' of Eliazer, the journey of the palm King of fertility, and the turning of the tables, all the way through the breaking of the phallic reed staff, to the casting lots on his garments and the waters out of the belly. It is not just Isaiah that echoes with this apocalyptic mission but Zechariah and deeply the Psalms. Notice how the men all fled while the women stayed to witness the event, significant of both fertility religion and Zechariah's apocalyptic tale of the foolish shepherd.

But we now have to return to God and the disquieting role God plays as a jealous and violent lover of old Israel and as a schizophrenically bipolar father, who sacrifices his own son, so that we can all have forgiveness and be saved. If this isn't a toxic recipe for millennia of mayhem, from martyrdom, through Crusade, to Inquisition and genocidal war, I can't think of a more poisonous one.

One step back and we have the holy communion, an endless cycle of cannibalistic drinking of the flesh and blood of the redeemer, without which there is no remission from sin, surpassed only by Aztec ritual, and respected by them for its core of human sacrifice. Who ever said life works this way? Who said we have to be sacrificed to the death to be saved? We have to have carnivores, just as we must needs have both plants, and animals that survive on eating plants, but why do we need to be saved by a father who murders is own son to make a point and then blames it on the Jews? If we are going to have a genuine sacramental religion, let it be one involving power food where the sacrament is a genuine spiritual catalyst of epiphany and enlightenment, just as the Native American Church and the Union Vegetale do in the Amazon.

Let's step back a bit further and think about this in social and biological terms. God is jealous because he is functioning as an entity that can keep us all in line. He is a moral actor who we can't see, but he can see right into our hearts and souls. So we can fool one another, but we can't fool God, because we are stark naked in His presence. This is a perfect catch 22 and it has strong evolutionary undertones. It inhibits intra-social strife, while accentuating inter-social dominance. It will, over time, result in societies with minimal internal conflict, even if through draconian punishments like stoning for adultery, which will become larger than other societies, even if fascist theocracies, and be able to dominate their competitors, even by genocidal war.

Thus we can expect that belief in God and personality types which sacrifice inquiry for belief in a higher authority, and the rule of divine order, will become an evolutionary feature of human behavior, committing to moral respect for fellow religionists in fear of God, and when we err, confession in the forgiveness of God. We will repress the heretics and unbelievers, consider it our duty to go on Crusade, foment jihad in the name of al-Llah, and stand ever closer to the red nuclear button in the sure conviction that, with God on our side, even if we have to leave the late planet Earth, we will have the face of God, and heaven to greet us, just as all Islamic martyrs are taught and believe. If God IS real, why DOES He depend on such belief to be 'real'? It's a bit like Jesus not being able to perform any mighty feats in his home town of Nazareth, where people knew him too well and said "physician heal thyself", possibly referring to the very lameness noted in the Talmud.

The acid test to me is this: Our duty is to the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Jesus said in his last moments before Pilate "for this reason I came into the world - to bear witness to the truth". This truth is nature , life and consciousness and the enchanted loom of sexuality, perhaps the most altruistic trick the universe has managed to come up with, through which we all become mortals, but give birth to endless new forms of life, by contributing only half our genes, along with half from the beloved 'other', a complementarity, just as mind and body and wave and particle are complementary.

It is true that humans are capable of what we might call evil, but the prisoners' dilemma teaches us that faithfulness and deceit are two parts of the complete reality. Survival requires astute character, balancing a good degree of cooperative faith with enough competitive defection, or 'betrayal', to keep our own genes alive. Survival of the fittest is not pure selfishness, nor is it a suckers game of unvarying cooperation, but a complex social system based on character and compassion as well as jealousy and hate. To build the whole model of reality on sin, evil and fallibility, is itself a fundamental and evil betrayal of the long-term evolutionary viability of human nature. Rather than original sin and the need for a God to destroy evil to order us into a mindless state of absolute perfection, we need to learn how our original virtue as a species has evolved a capacity to love one another and to care, even for strangers, far beyond the bounds of genetic kinship.

To have Christ nature we cannot afford to believe, because this will inevitably muddy the pool, just as the angel rustled the waters in the Pool of Bethesda. Neither can we stare at the perfect mirror of consciousness assuming the cosmic self, or no-self exists, as the Buddhists and Vedantists vie over. But we need to look ever more deeply into the holy grail of existence ceaselessly and patiently, casting no lots on the garments of the universe.

To learn to be Christ, we have to take the personal responsibility to save the world, for the life of the future generations to come, without any predilection, belief, or commands, or demands upon others. Only in our mutual liberation from bondage will the paradigm of paradise come.

This is the lesson of Isaiah 61 which Jesus read out in his first sermon at Nazareth, for which he was nearly thrown off the cliffs for swearing Elijah and Elisha performed only for Naaman the Syrian and the woman of Sidon - "and we shall renew the old wastes, restore the waste cities, as the garden causeth the things that are sewn in it to spring forth". So is the pronunciation of the Tree of Life, "as the Bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments and the Bride decketh herself with her jewels', for this is the unveiling reunion, under the Tree of Life - hidden since the foundation of the world.

Shakti Cosmology in the Kali Yuga


Elizabeth: We only exist for a brief moment in time so brief that it is not measurable yet that brief moment exists indeed. We live and die at every brief moment again and again not because it is karma, but because we recognise the "distractions" that the light of fire, water and air make on our visual and sensory receptors. When distracted we "stick around" to see what else there is and then the imagination "creates" with desires and the available light/water/air. If we lose sight of the "distractions" we end up dead in the physical sense where others no longer see us as living, yet in reality we step through the pin hole in the universe into the next cycle.

Dhushara: We exist for this incarnation and have a responsibility not just to flit in and out of existence and non-existence but to redeem and reflower the living planet for the generations to follow. This is the duty of the avatar without which all is futility hubris and corruption that will never further.
The pinhole to the next cycle is a mind sky patriarchal view of the cosmos put there by cultural 'avatars' like Krishna to try to divert attention from the physical reality of the feminine aspect of the totality - Kali, Shakti, Gaia, or Mother Nature. The idea that the physical world around us is a collection of distractions which we could or should pop through in our cycle of reincarnation is a dangerous male deception.
We are entering the Kali Yuga - this is the age of science and apocalypse. Life is perennial, but we are damaging the Earth to the extent that our own survival prospects are being seriously undermined. We invent nuclear weapons and chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction, we are devastating our natural ecosystems, causing a mass extinction of biodiversity and disrupting the climatic stability of the planet semi-permanently. This is criminal religious and selfish folly based on male views of nature as subservient, evil or a grist to be exploited.
A major reason for this are the very patriarchal religions that espouse this mind-sky view of the physical as distraction and in the case of the Judeo-Christian-Islamic traditions of the idea that a desert God may scorch the Earth to triage of every living thing in the tumult of an apocalyptic end game which is really a product of our own folly.
Science has lost her soul because we moved from a scorched Earth God to an age of reductionistic materialism with no ethical idea of how to synthesize and refertilize a sustainable world.
The Universe IS the embodiment of Kali. Kali is - kal 'time' - it is the process of creation and destruction lived out in real time as opposed to the timeless eternal of the space-time envelope.

This has deep resonances with the idea of Kali as creatrix, and yet destructress of the material realm, so that the history and future of the universe is the Kali Yuga in its full blown nemesis:

Such in outline, but even more purposeless, more devoid of meaning is the world which science presents for our belief. Amid such a world, if anywhere, our ideals henceforward must find a home. That man is the product of causes that had no prevision of the end they were achieving; that his origin, his growth, his hopes and fears, his loves and his beliefs, are but the outcome of accidental collocations of atoms; that no fire, no heroism, no intensity of thought and feeling, can preserve an individual life beyond the grave, that all the labours of the ages, all the devotion, all the inspirations, all the noon-day brightness of human genius, are destined to extinction in the vast death of the solar system, and that the whole temple of man's achievement must inevitably be buried beneath the debris of a universe in ruins - all these things, if not quite beyond dispute, are yet so nearly certain, that no philosophy that rejects them can hope to stand. Only within the scaffolding of these truths, only on the firm foundation of unyielding despair, can the soul's habitation henceforth be safely built. ... Brief and powerless is man's life, on him and all his race the slow, sure doom falls pitiless and dark ... (Bertrand Russell)
The ultimate birth and fate of the universe are entirely destructive to life, but this is not a tragedy because life is resplendent on the cosmic equator - the tropic of Gaia. Indeed the big bang alpha and omega death are essential to create the complex universe with forces of nature making tissues and life possible at all, so we have to settle for the Kali condition as the best of all possible worlds even though the cosmic design may have her eating us all alive in the heat death. Science is feminine, as Shakti and Kali is feminine, because it is the description of the embodiment of the existential condition, complete with its wild sexuality leading to individual mortality, and creation and destruction of life, through the passage of the generations, and the ultimate annihilation of all life in the heath death or cosmic crunch and the awesome details of the scientific description, from the forces of nature to the genetic code.

This is not to suggest that the universe is ruled by a vengeful neolithic Goddess, or that the physical universe is permeated by a vital feminine 'holy ghost' but that our existential description of reality, our respect for the physical and nature as sacred, rather than inert materials to be exploited, lacks the integrating view which makes sense of how all this awesome cosmological description leads to a verdant overflowing of sustainable natural life or a sense of the 'sap and dew' of human destiny to bring about the joyous perennial cosmology of living paradise on the cosmic equator.

The analytic aspects of good deductive science do not require a vitalistic myth to complete them but rather a new appreciation of the role we as sentient beings must needs play, since we are mortal and cannot carry our baggage with us when we go to do the one and only thing in this transient life that makes any sense at all - to leave the planet and on a wider scale the sentient universe in amore complete and better state than it was before we came along.

This is partly 'feminine' in aspect, just as the females of the species make the living flesh and blood covenant with the life process by giving birth to live young. It is also essential to a complete description of the cosmic Tao that the patriarchal view of reality involved in traditional religious thought and the analytic reductionistic mechanistic view of the scientific description be complemented by the feminine synthesizing aspects of the description arising from non-linear dynamics, the paradoxes of uncertainty and the wave-particle relationship, the nature of quantum entanglement
, the emergent properties of quantum molecular systems, and the synthetic integrative properties of molecular biology, from molecular complexes and organelles, through cells, to tissues, organisms and ecosystems.

It is the tragedy of human history that men, in their fear of their own mortality, not giving birth to living beings themselves, have seized control of culture, and developed scorched Earth religions of fire and retribution, leading to an idea of a vengeful God acting in history that brings us to our own tumult and near destruction and a view of the physical universe as a kind of Newtonian clockwork mechanism freely available for human exploitation, or worse still nature as sexual evil and the slime of mortal imperfection.
Karma is not a predetermined, or moral destiny. Karma is the active quantum entanglement of uncertainty leading to the coincidences we find in the living world around us, which indicate the universe may be more consciously alive than we may think.

The Messiah's Aphrodisiac and Prostate Protection

I am 69 and still have regular sex around twice a week. For men in mid-life, the aim of riding the great wave is to enhance sexual prowess during the times one is engaged in making love, by both increasing psycho-physical libido and one's erection, while diminishing the dangers to the prostate for the rest of the time by consumption of both anti-oxidant and phytoestrogenic anti-cancer food components.

It may also act by increasing Luteinizing hormone, which turns on testosterone production in Leydig cells in the testes.

  • Indica butter (tetra-hydro-cannabinols anti-cancer angiogenesis inhibitor).
Grapefruit, which acts in a similar way to Tongkat ali, by inhibiting the enzyme CYP3A4 metabolizing estrogen, increases breast cancer by 1/3 - as much as HRT - so people should be cautious of natural products which act directly on sex hormone enzymes and receptors. Does this mean grapefruit is a female aphrodisiac?
The genestein in soya is a mild phytoestrogen which doesn't seem to promote female reproductive cancers and is protective against prostate and other forms of cancer, but note soya has been shown to reduce sperm counts and probably inhibits virility, if the sex frequency statistics of high soya consumption populations such as Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan are any indication.

The Thief in the Night steals the Holy of Holies

A little while ago I wrote and produced an unforgettable song you can listen to in mp3 called Black Rose, or the Rose of Sharon.

You can watch this as a YouTube movie in the form of Black Rose Nuclear Apocalypse, which has used the words of the song in a counterpoint to an apocalyptic warning about the threat of nuclear weapons overkill and the risks posed by the Israeli Samson Option.

The circumstances of this song and its words are highly provocative, troubling, blasphemous and an oracle that contains all the parables and paradoxes of parousia, from the thief in the night, through the goodman of the house, to the midnight oil of the bridegroom and the five wise and five foolish virgins, but to understand it, and what it represents, we need to see how the words arose, from a seemingly irresolvable conflict of values and ideals.

I had traveled to Jerusalem in the millennium on a rite of passage closing the circle of division and blood letting that began with the extreme violence of Yeshua's crucifixion as a blasphemous Jewish messiah, with leanings towards the fertility worship of Dhushara of Edomite Nabatea, in both his being anointed to his death by a woman who may have been his lover, and his pretensions to miraculous Dionysian theatre of cathartic renewal, resulting in a schism of the traditions, from which Christianity as the sacramental pole and Judaism as the covenental pole have never recovered. Although Christians like to think of Jesus as a Jewish messiah who was rejected by the Jews, the wildfire popularity of Christianity spread across the pagan world because Jesus had espoused the essential rites of passage of the sacrificed god-king in the fertility tradition.

The natural complementation of this schism is a gentile messiah who heals this division, along with Fall and the earlier schism between woman and man, ending the apocalyptic messianic era of dominion over woman and nature, in the reflowering of the immortal paradigm of the Tree of Life, as both the Jewish apocalypses and Revelation declare. The key to this is love, not just sexual and selfless altruistic love, but a love of redeeming the fragmented shards of cultural diaspora epitomized by the sparks of the Shekhinah, foretold in the Kabbalah.

With Jane at Tsvat on the Millennial Sabbatical

Anyway, while pursuing our research into sexual paradox, I struck up a strange e-mail correspondence with a latently bisexual Zionist woman from Tsvat (Safed), the memorable and intriguing Holy town of the Kabbalah, whose mausoleums and mountain tops, bristling with security intelligence antennae, we had visited on the millennial sabbatical. In the song she is referred to as Devorah, as from the book of Judges, but this is a veil for Doreen Bell-Zotan.

'Devorah's' and my diaspora dialogue focused immediately on the Song of Songs, שיר השירים, which I praised as the quintessence of fertility reunion between woman and man, and noted it may have older roots in Near Eastern cultures, from the Sumerian Song of Inana, through Syrian marriage rites, to the more recent Arab wasf love poetry paralleling the style of the Canticles, which one finds for example in Lebanon.

The opening verses of the song set out my verdant apology for the love allegory:

I am the rose of Sharon,
and the lily of the valleys.
As the lily among thorns,
so is my love among the daughters.

As the apple tree among the trees of the wood,
so is my beloved among the sons.
I sat down under his shadow with delight,
and his fruit was sweet to my taste.

He brought me to the banqueting house,
and his banner over me was love.
Stay me with flagons, comfort me with apples:
for I am sick of love.


'Devorah' took extreme exception to this interpretation, that the Song of Songs is the very Holy of Holies, a hidden secret codex, containing the most forbidden and deepest teachings of the Torah, and the very seal of the relationship of God with the bride Israel, surrounded by the briars of supernatural defenses to keep out all but the chosen ones.

This 'holy' view is of course the classic position, originating from Rabbi Akiva, who in addition to incorporating the Canticles into the Jewish cannon, anointed the Zealot warrior Bar Cochbah as messiah to the doom of all present, one of whom said "grass will grow out of your jaw Akiva!".

It is signed, sealed and delivered, despite, or precisely because of ,its sticky myrrh dripping off the handles of the lock, the 'head' filled with dew, and locks with the drops of the night. But let us never lose sight of the frankly sacrificial undertones of the lily among the thorns and the beloved who had withdrawn himself and was gone and could not be found by the lover smitten by the watch-keepers, just as the women wept for Tammuz and the lost Adonis among the blood roses of Lebanon and Galilee.

Just as we know that there are briars
surrounding the most magnificent gardens,
moats around castles, walls around mansions,
security systems and all

so the Torah has it defences
to keep unwanted trespassers out.
No Gentile has ever been admitted
and no one ever will.


But hell's bells! Wait a minute! The royal tradition of the messiah, as Solomon himself espoused, is to love the Queen of the South and to give her all she desired, and to let all one's wives and concubines worship their strange deities on every high hill and under every green tree, even as the hyssop grows out of the wall, and the bed of green is arched over by the cedars of Lebanon.

I dearly love the intimate and perennial fertility of the Hebrew tradition, by contrast with the guilt-ridden sex-averse Hellenistic paganism of Christianity, and the very idea of the Song of Songs finding its way into the common bible, merely as an allegory of Christ's love for his church, is a frank insult to the root immortal fertility and unsurpassed altruism of sexual engagement, without which neither we nor religion could exist. It is this root fertility that is also the souce of the messiah's transformative potential.

The Song of Songs in the Jewish tradition is not just a naughty little book of love poetry that somehow squeaked in the back door of the Bible, when eyes of the the sex-fearing church fathers were averted, but it is the covenant, the oracle and the secret text, of the very fertility that is at the source of the Hebrew tradition, not an insidious intruder, but the altar piece, inner sanctum, and cosmic portal to the mysterium tremendum, even if it is deceptively portrayed in Judaism as the love of God for the Bride Israel, in a manner not entirely different from the Christian sexual perversion of Christ and 'his' Church.

Noli me Tangere “And they say unto her, ‘Woman, why weepest thou?’ She saith unto them, ‘Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.’ Jesus saith unto her, ‘Mary’. She turned herself, and saith unto him, ‘Rabboni’. Jesus saith unto her, ‘Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended’ ” , echoed in the Song of Songs: “I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer”

This itself is one of the most wonderful paradoxes of the whole Judeo-Christian tradition, that a frankly Tantric sexual fertility allegory is the holiest of holies right at the very centre of the cosmic mystery of the godhead. Given the pretensions of mankind and the all too patriarchal absolute Gods mankind has spawned, to find our entire apocalyptic destiny revolving around the aching throbbing of unrequited sexual anticipation is a treat too intoxicating to dispel.

In glaring contrast to her bisexual explorations, more reminiscent of the subterranean undergrowth of Lilith than the Kosher Torah of covenant and commandment, 'Devorah' then claimed I was profaning the Holy book to lay claim to an heroic espousal of its love allegory, mindless as a thief in the market place, completely unaware of the inestimable value of what I was making off with:

Imagine a 'thief' has broken into your house
and stolen your very most valuable jewel.
he has no idea how much it is worth,
or where to claim the best price.

If you have the least humility or decency
you will realize this gem can never be yours,
and you will not attempt to hock it off
from a street stall at a cut price.

You are doing untold damage to yourself and all creation
posing as a spiritual thief,
nothing but a shameless pillager
plundering a pearl beyond price.


So is it to be the ultimate poetic irony that the Gentile mashiach is branded by the daughter of Zion as the very thief in the night which the Christian tradition prophesies will be the signature of the second coming? Doesn't this become a catalyst for all the allegories of Parousia to unfold?

So here I am the thief in the night
the lonely candle and the light
A bridegroom whose wedding is celebrated
when I have not taken a wife.


And know full well, if the goodman of the house
had known the hour that the thief would come,
he would have watched, and never suffered
his house to be broken through

So be ye therefore ready,
and trim your lamps and gather your oil
for the son of humanity cometh
at an hour when ye think not.

In response, 'Devorah' then enunciates a broad attack - in her own innocently racist words - on the 'white man' - in some sense a condemnation of the apocalyptic pretenses of the gentile, European culture, running back to the Roman invasions, and of the pagan distortions of the Christian tradition, beings who, by contrast with the elect of the covenant, are innately degenerate and wholly incapable of true spiritual understanding:

I do not know why the White man
has been created with a spiritual dearth.
Logical and intelligent, but of all human beings
most lacking in spiritual worth.

I have great compassion. It must be so terrible.
Living as a spiritual parasite,
stealing the sacred traditions of others,
the holies of the elect.

The abysmal emptiness in the White man
has driven him to conquer and to destroy
to engage in all sorts of perversions,
thinking they're a spiritual ploy.

In response to my claim that throwing the gates of compassion wide open could immortalize her in history, 'Devorah' then enunciates the ultimate defense of her higher status, among the chosen ones of God, claiming no matter to what degree she falls into error, unlike the pretensions of the delusional gentile to have a role in the redemption, she will always be brought back into the 'Elysian Fields' of the elect:

I don't need some delusional Gentile
to immortalize a daughter of Zion
my immortality is sealed and delivered
no matter if I sin or err ...

I will always be brought back into the fold.
This is the promise the ancient one made
to the children of Avraham and Sarah
a reward for them alone.

No wannabeing gentiles can ever change it.
I am closer to God even in my sin,
than you can be in your heights of purity.
so you can take it up with Him.

So what choice do I have here but to redeclare my love of the disdainful bride Israel, as the thief in the night I have become?

Devorah, you are a living wonder,
but don't condemn yourself so effortlessly.
Unsought immortality can come to leave us
naked and ashamed.

Thus fulfilling the ambiguous history Jesus left, of the Bridegroom whose relationship with all his unattached women - Magdalen, that 'good part' Mary of Bethany was to play anointing him, Martha whom he loved, and the Salome of the Gospel of Thomas, upon whose bed he came up, - remains enigmatic and apparently unrequited, outside the repressed gnostic traditions, where it is claimed he and Magdalen celebrated the hieros gamos together.

The crucifixion procession. Magdalen has her face smitten with streaks of blood. "The watchmen that went about the city found me, they smote me, they wounded me; the keepers of the walls took away my veil from me" (5:7).

To heal this diaspora, the song then enters the inner sanctum of sexual reunion in the bedchamber, Christine entering the duet, to fulfill the marriage bond, complementing the cursed 'white man' with the occluded 'black woman':

Open unto me, my sister,
my love, my dove, my undefiled:
for my head is filled with dew,
and my locks with the drops of the night.

I rose up to open to my beloved;
And my spikenard flowed out to him,
and my fingers dropped with sweet smelling myrrh,
upon the handles of the lock.

Look not upon me, because I am black,
because the sun hath looked upon me
Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth:
for thy love is better than wine.

The song then opens to the full panoply of sexual love, and the supreme irony of the wild-oats fertility of Solomon as fertility mashiach contrasted with the indulgent licentiousness of Matthew's alleged parable of Jesus as fertility bridegroom, accepting the five astute virgins who oiled their lamps and went with in the bridegroom to the marriage at midnight, but rejecting the five foolish ones who didn't keep their lamps oiled.

No Solomon would reject the five whose oil had run a little low. They are in fact the key to spark of sexual resurgence, bringing the lost Adonai back from the dead, rather than the 'life for a life' which Jesus lost, to 'bring Lazarus back':

Can you imagine anything more disturbing
than 'opening' to five astute young witches
who enter the marital feast at midnight
to celebrate their sensual delight?

And when the cup runs to overflowing,
five more virgins also toil,
begging for one's loving touch,
to replenish their midnight oil?

Could anything be more inspiring
to make one feel the flame grow higher?
To rise again right from the dead?
No more to be lamented!

Of course this sexual imagery is highly blasphemous to both the Jewish and Christian traditions, making the act of transgression in the now which Yeshua's mission did in the year zero, black verses, leaving an inforgettable imprint just by their very pronunciation, just as Jesus pronounced Isaiah 61's black verses and then claimed the Gentiles Naaman the Syrian and the Widow of Sidon were the only beneficiaries of the prophet's 'miracles', leading to him nearly being thrown off the cliffs of Nazareth:

Some songs can never be unsung.
We just can't get them out of our head!
No matter how hard we try to be free,
there's no end to the blasphemy.

You can hear it echoing from the cliff tops,
whispering through the tumbling waters
in our tears of sorrow and joy,
that these things have come to pass.
